Plate Settlers

Roberts’ stainless steel Plate Settlers are manufactured from 100% stainless steel and are designed and constructed at Roberts’ dedicated stainless steel fabrication facility. With over 120 years of sedimentation basin design experience, Roberts’ plate settler systems offer the high efficiency and ease of operation that you expect from all of Roberts’ products.

Roberts’ plates are designed on nominal 2” (5.08 cm) centers and are oriented at 55 degrees. The horizontally projected surface area of the plates reduce the overall footprint of conventional sedimentation basins by up to 90%.   Roberts’ plates are available in standard depths from 4’-6” (1.37m) up to 9’-6” (2.8 m) and standard widths up to 54” (1.37 m). Our systems can be retrofitted in existing rectangular or circular basins and our reinforced plate design allows operators and installation crews to walk on the surface of the plates without damaging the system (Roberts recommend following all OSHA and other safety guidelines when working in or around sedimentation basins).

Control orifices located within the plates themselves are solely responsible for controlling headloss. In addition, the control orifices work to assure proper flow distribution across the system.  If you are considering plate settlers for your facility, take advantage of Roberts’ Plate Settler pilot unit to demonstrate system effectiveness and to gather actual operation and maintenance costs for your specific raw water characteristics.
