Somerset County Water System48

Quemahoning Pipeline Project

The 2.0 MGD treatment system was designed to accept water pumped from the Quemahoning Reservoir located approximately 2 miles from the site of the actual plant. The location of the plant allows the pumped raw water to be treated by the Pacer II units and then to flow via gravity through a new 21 mile pipeline to various communities throughout Somerset County. The design of the new facility allows for the future addition of two more Pacer II treatment units which would ultimately increase the plant’s capacity to 4.0 MGD. Read more

Waupun Utilities50

Waupun Wisconsin

The Waupun Utility District supplies water to the nearly 11,000 residents of the town of Waupun, as well as several state correctional facilities in the surrounding area. Due to presence of dissolved calcium and magnesium, Waupun’s water is relatively hard and requires softening. Additionally, iron and manganese in the raw water calls for treatment to assure the Utilities ability to comply with the appropriate MCL’s. The Utilities’ existing facility had become outdated and was being challenged to produce the required daily capacity. A new central treatment and softening facility was proposed which would utilize Manganese Greensand filters for iron and manganese removal, followed by RO membranes for softening. A beautiful new octagonal shape building was designed and constructed to house the 2.9 MGD facility and includes room the future addition of a third process train. Upon completion of the new facility, the existing facility was demolished. Read more
